Meagan and Luke’s love story began under the glittering skyline of St Kilda, where a mutual friend’s birthday brought them together on a lively rooftop bar. Meagan had already done a little reconnaissance – ‘Instagram-stalked’ Luke at her sister’s suggestion – and was mentally prepared to strike up a conversation, though nerves fluttered. Luke, blissfully unaware, quickly fell into step with her warmth and humour and the pair connected instantly.

The proposal was the perfect blend of thoughtfulness and suspense. Luke orchestrated a secret plan, booking the courtyard of a Camberwell wine bar and enlisting Meagan’s best friend to lure her under the guise of a casual Friday evening. What should have been simple proved more complicated than expected with Meagan’s busy schedule threatening to foil the surprise. “Strike #1: Luke was being too nice. Strike #2: He told me to fake tan. Strike #3: When I arrived, the courtyard was empty,” laughs Meagan. But as she stepped into the cold, fairy-lit courtyard in July, there he stood with a ring and her exclamation of “I knew it!” was met with celebration as both families joined them for champagne and laughter.

Planning their summer wedding from scratch became a collaborative adventure. They began by defining what they loved in weddings, agreeing on a formal ceremony paired with a lively, fun-filled reception. With a clear vision, they navigated guest lists, budgets and a dual-venue strategy – the Portico Balcony at Melbourne Town Hall offered timeless elegance for the ceremony while Glasshaus Inside provided a contemporary, vibrant backdrop for the evening’s festivities. Invitations and vendors followed in a structured rhythm and without a coordinator, spreadsheets became their lifeline, guiding them through every decision.
