MAC + ERIN

Erin and Maryanne ‘Mac’ met in 2019 while playing footy for Sydney University Australian National Football Club. Footy weekends in Sydney’s inner west naturally blended sport and pub sessions where the couple really hit it off. A late-night house party dance floor moment became the turning point where friendship quietly shifted into something neither of them
could ignore.

In June 2024, Erin proposed in Edinburgh at the Ross Fountain beneath Edinburgh Castle, chosen in honour of Mac’s late father who was born in Scotland. Erin had smuggled the ring in her luggage inside a pair of socks, thinking she was being subtle. What she didn’t know was that Mac had also packed a ring, planning to propose in the same spot moments earlier. The surprise unfolded into an emotional twist, later mirrored by Mac’s own proposal in Amsterdam’s Vondelpark during a picnic after a bike ride through the city.

In wedding planning, the approach was relaxed from the start. “If you asked our friends and family, they’d probably say… ‘what planning process?’” they laugh. They focused on a city-based celebration at Melbourne’s Butler Lane, chosen for its industrial warmth, indoor-outdoor flow and dog-friendly policy so Wolfie and Herbie could be present. The venue’s wet-weather plan and all-in-one layout meant guests could settle in and enjoy the day.

Styling stayed simple and heartfelt, guided by feeling rather than strict planning. Florals by Babylon Flowers softened the space while DIY stationery added a personal touch, including a hand-painted welcome sign created with friends and family. A disco ball nodded to nights spent together at the Imperial Hotel in Erskineville, Sydney.
